PLS Online Catalog:
Library catalog for looking up books in Skyline College Library PLUS all public & community college libraries in San Mateo County (PLS-- Peninsula Library System).  To use the catalog, click on the link and follow the directions below:

To search for books in all libraries in the PLS system:

·         Type search words (keep your search words broad) in the first search box & click Submit.

·         The search results will show books and other materials in all libraries in the PLS system.

·         To Limit your search results to materials at Skyline College Library:

·         Click on Modify Search near the top of the screen.

·         You will be brought back to the search screen and your search term(s) will reappear.

·         Scroll down to the Location selection box (2nd box under Limit to: below the search boxes),

·         select Skyline College in the Location box,

·         then click the Submit button.

To search for books only in Skyline College Library:

  • Type search words (keep your search words broad) in the first search box.
  • Scroll down to the Location selection box (2nd box under Limit to: below the search boxes),
  • select Skyline College in the Location box,
  • then click the Submit button.


To find a specific book on the shelf in Skyline College Library:

  • Click on the title of the book to display the “full record” page for that book.
  • Look under Location (on lower half of the page) and find the listing for Skyline College Circulating Collection.*
  • Look under Call No. for the Skyline listing and copy down the complete call number. 
  • Look up the book on the Circulating Collection shelves by the call number.  Ask a librarian for help, if needed.


*  The
Circulating Collection is the main set of shelves on the right side as you enter the library.
   Other book locations in Skyline Library are:

·         Reserves: shelved at the front desk

·         Reference: shelved in lower shelves behind the Reference desk

·         Oversize: shelved at the right end of the Reference shelves

·         New Fiction: shelved in a small book case directly in front of the library entrance


To order books from other libraries:

Books from other libraries may be ordered to be sent to Skyline (or any other library) by clicking on the yellow Request button on the top of the full record page for any book. (A library card is required to make the request and $.75 is charged when picking up the book.)

College Reserve Books & Materials
:
Textbooks & other materials assigned by instructors for specific classes are available at the checkout/reserve desk at the front of the library. The PLS College Reserve catalog allows searching by course name or number or instructor name for Skyline, CSM or Cañada books.

MyiLibrary is a new downloadable audiobook service. All titles available from MyiLibrary can be downloaded and transferred to most iPods and to Windows Media devices.

Digital Book Library
Digital books are electronic versions of print books. They include downloadable audio books for listening and eBooks for on-screen reading. Both digital audio books and eBooks can be used on a variety of devices such as PCs, laptops, and supported PDAs. You can even copy the audio books from your computer onto CD's and listen to them in your car.
