One of the important keys to success in college is taking the right courses--courses
that you need to build your academic skills and to achieve your educational
and career goals.
It is important to choose courses that are at a level equal to your current
academic skills--not too easy so that you become bored, nor too difficult
so that you become discouraged or receive unsatisfatory grades. The Placement
Tests are an essential success tool and assist you to select the right
courses.
Skyline College Placement Tests are required to enroll in most English,
ESOL, and mathematics classes. SAT or ACT results cannot be used for course
placement purposes. Previous college or university transcripts from an
accredited American school that indicate successful completion of mathematics
and/or English composition classes may be used in lieu of Skyline College
Placement Tests. Placement test scores from other California community
colleges completed within the past two years may also be used in lieu
of Skyline Placement Tests,
The following pages will provide information about the Skyline College
Placement Tests. You will find practice mathematics problems that will
prepare you to choose the appropriate math test to take. English and reading
course information will follow as well as several sample English test
questions. |
